Success man jailed for stealing car, truck tyres

Kaieteur News – A 52-year-old labourer of Success, East Coast Demerara, was sentenced yesterday to six months imprisonment after pleading guilty to stealing several car and truck tyres. The accused, Anthony June, called “Rubber,” appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court, where the charge of simple larceny was read to him.
Police said June stole eight car tyres and four small truck tyres, valued at $253,000, from businessman Fizul Basirali between September 11 and September 18, 2025, at Success. He was arrested on September 19 and formally charged on September 29.
In court on Tuesday, June admitted to the crime. Magistrate Nurse sentenced him to six months in prison.
