Kaieteur News – A 30-year-old painter of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was on Friday remanded to prison after he was charged with Robbery Under Arms, contrary to Section 222 (c) of the Criminal Law Offences Act, Chapter 8:01.
Leon Persaud was arrested on September 19, 2025 by a rank from the Beterverwagting Police Station. He is accused of stealing a mobile phone (Samsung s22 Ultra) valued $180,000 from 39-year- old Nadira Khemraj called ‘Nado’ of Good Hope, ECD.
Persaud appeared at the Vigilance Magistrates’ Court before Senior Magistrate Sunil Scarce, where the charge was read.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge. He is scheduled to return to court on October 29 for reports.
