Kaieteur Sports – Trinbago Knight Riders broke the hearts of all the Guyana Amazon Warriors fans and supporters alike last night, by capturing the coveted championship title in dominant fashion for a record 5th time; in arguably one of the more dramatic finals in history.
It was a nail-biter from the first ball with drama thickening right up until the very end. But with Akeal Hosein intent on bringing the title home, the left-hander smashes a six and a four to help seal an emphatic win in the midst of a stunned Guyana Amazon Warriors sold out Providence fanbase.
Clinical bowling from Surab Netravalkar who snared 3-25 while left-arm spinner and match hero Hosein (2-26) helped keep the Warriors to a modest score of 130-8 in 20 overs.
Ben McDermott (28), Iftahkar Ahmed (30), Dwaine Pretorius (25) and Romario Shepherd (13) were the key batters amidst a horrible batting card.
The in-form duo of opener Quentin Sampson (0), Shimron Hetmyer (4) and leading scorer this season Shai Hope (12); departed cheaply as the Warriors misfired by being 4-59 at the halfway stage.

Chasing a low target for a piece of CPL history, TKR finished on 133-7 in the 18th over after a string of scores from Alex Hales (26), Colin Munro (23), Sunil Narine (22), Kieron Pollard (21) and a 7-ball 16* including the match-winning boundaries coming off the bat of Hosein.
Warriors captain Imran Tahir bagged 3-34 in a huge effort, with pacers Pretorius (2-21) and a brave effort from Shamar Joseph (2-9) headlining a near-missed opportunity at victory.
Veteran opener Munro punched three fours and a six while Hales, who batted almost the entire innings had just a solitary 4 as TKR lost three wickets inside the first power-play.
Failures for Nick Pooran (1), Darren Bravo and others (11) failed before the mission was completed by some solid contributions from Pollard who hit three sixes and Narine, who nailed to ; all of which aided in reducing the deficit while laying the foundation for what would be Hosein’s whirlwind mini knock.
This is the first title in five seasons for TKR, the first for Pooran as skipper and the first chip that the franchise has won outside of their home turf.

Horrible coaching, we need to get rid of Tahir and engage the talent from Guyana. No need for 5-6 overseas players in each match.
Why is Tahir holding back Shamar Joseph and Keemo Paul. They can produce more if playing more games.
Why is Moeen Ali in the team and also there is no need to bat him ahead of Romario Sheppard.
