Kaieteur Sports – The race to the 2025 Deputy Mayor’s Cup crown explodes into action this Sunday, September 28, as eight of the best Inter-Ward Seven-a-Side teams go head-to-head at the Police Sports Ground (Eve Leary) in an electrifying knockout showdown.
With just one night to prove their worth, teams will battle through four quarterfinals and two semifinals, all in a bid to reach the highly anticipated final and claim bragging rights, big cash, and a championship trophy.
On Sunday, Quarterfinal Line-up includes; Albouystowntaking onStabroek Ballers6:00. Then at PM6:30 PM, Back Circle ‘B’ will face off with Pele. Following that at 7:00 PM, the mighty Uitvlugt Stars will take on Bent Street in the ultimate challenge and round out the quarter final fixture see Soesdyke Warriors challenge Liliendaal Strikers for the final spot into the semifinals.
Proceeding the quarter finals phase, winners of these clashes will return later that nightfor the semifinals. See the winner between Albouystown and Stabroek battle victors of the Uitvlugt-Bent Street clash for a spot into the finals. Back Circle and Pele will also go head-to-head to secure spot in the second semifinal. They will take on the winners between Soesdyke and Liliendaal.
Expect fireworks on the pitch as top-tier talent and fierce rivalries collide under the lights.
The tournament, heavily supported by the Guyana Police Force, boasts a massive $1 million prize pool: Firstplace will receive $500,000 as well as Ricks & Sari hampers and championship trophy. Second place will secure $300,000 in cash and runner-uptrophy while third and fourth place will take home $200,000 and $100,000 in cash as well as placement trophy.
Trophies will also be awarded to the Most Disciplined Team and the Most Valuable Player (MVP) who will ride away with a brand-new super bike courtesy of Commissioner Clifton Hicken.
Deputy Mayor of Georgetown, Denise Miller, will be present for the finals, endorsing what promises to be a night of football excellence.
