Kaieteur News – The Assembly for Liberty and Prosperity (ALP) on Thursday called on the government to urgently address the poor conditions of public schools and training facilities across Guyana.

Leader of the ALP Simona Broomes
Led by politician and activist Simona Broomes, the party emphasised that Guyanese children deserve safe, clean, and comfortable learning environments where technology and accessibility are fully integrated.
“We ask that the Government makes clear its plans for upgrading and building schools,” the party stated.
Broomes urged the Government to clearly outline its plans for upgrading and building schools, prioritising factors such as adequate and well-lit spaces with both natural and artificial lighting, ergonomic chairs and desks, compliant emergency exits, evacuation plans, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, proper climate control and ventilation, and full compliance with the Persons with Disabilities Act to ensure access and accommodations for students with disabilities.
She also highlighted the importance of reliable internet and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as access to clean, potable water.
The party also pledged to advocate over the next five years for improved policies while holding the Government accountable to deliver, “A Good Change in our education system- safe schools, clean water, and modern classrooms for every child.”
The ALP stated, “No more should children be forced to learn in the poorest conditions. Over the next five years.”
The party added, “The future of Guyana depends on the quality of education we provide today. The time to act is now.”
