Kaieteur News – As the WIN party Leader, Azruddin Mohamed is yet to reveal his full list of parliamentarians who will join him in the National Assembly; General Secretary (GS) of the party, Odessa Primus says she is uncertain whether to take up post as a parliamentarian, adding that she does not rule it out.
Speaking with Kaieteur News on Thursday, Primus confirmed that she was approached to be part of WIN’s list of parliamentarians. When asked if she accepted the position, she said, “I am uncertain.”
Questioned as to why she is uncertain, Primus elaborated, “I mean it is not something I necessarily have as part of my plans per se. I don’t believe that what I do for (the) country could only be done through a position. So, it really doesn’t matter. I don’t see myself having more or less strength in any position in terms of getting what I need to get done for the people. Ultimately, it really doesn’t factor in to where I see myself going.”
She added that, “It’s not something that at this juncture, I want to say I rule out, I don’t rule out but it’s not particularly where I wanna go.”
WIN secured the second highest votes at the elections gaining 16 seats in the National Assembly. Mohamed on Wednesday revealed to this publication the names of 10 of the 16 persons who will take up these seats. These include: himself, former MPs: Dawn Hastings-Williams of Region Seven, Tabitha Sarabo-Halley and Natasha Singh-Lewis.
Also on the list are: Vishnu Panday (former Director of Agriculture at GuySuCo), Gobin Harbajan of Region Six, Nandranie Singh, Beverly Cornelius of Region Two, Dr. Gordon Barker of Region Three, and Dr. Ryan Richards of Region 10.
With his eyes on taking government at the next general elections, Mohamed had disclosed that as they prepare to take up the role as the main opposition party, “We will be working tirelessly to ensure we hold the PPP accountable, whatever they promise in their manifesto, they have to deliver, whatever we have in our manifesto we will pitch it to them too.” “We will be on their necks every single day,” he said noting that they have persons to focus on all the various sectors.
