Kaieteur News – All over de world, and even right here in de Caribbean, when politician lose election, dem does pick up de phone, call de winner, and say, “Congratulations, buddy, best of luck.”
Simple-simple thing. But in Guyana? Bai, that is scarcer than water in de Sahara.
Dem boys seh, conceding in Guyana is like seeing a man catch a fish in a trench at high noon—possible in theory, but you gon dead waiting. Every time election done, we does sit down hoping fuh see lil grace, lil dignity, lil class but instead we does get silence, sulking, and side-eye.
Look how Jamaica, Trinidad, Barbados does do it. De loser call, de winner smile, everybody clap, and life move on. In Guyana? De loser more sour than green tambrind.
Dem boys seh, is pride before principle every single time. Concession is de missing link to civil politics in dis country. Imagine how sweet it woulda sound: “Congrats, my brother, may you serve de people well.” But no, Guyana politicians prefer to eat crow stew in private than swallow one bite of humble pie in public.
Dem boys was hoping dis election gon be different. Dem boys seh, maybe dis time somebody gon surprise we, break de curse, mash down de wall of spite. But bai, disappointment again. Not a ring, not a ding, not even a text message saying “Blessings.”
So long as bitterness running de show, that concession call gon remain elusive—like rain in de middle of a blazing dry season. And de people of Guyana gon continue fuh live in hope that one day, just one day, one ah dem gon finally put country before ego and dial de blasted number.
Talk half. Leff half.

(Kaieteur News) – The PPP Govt says one thing. The 2026 budget is big, bright, beautiful; a bonanza for battered Guyanese.
