Kaieteur News – The decomposed body of a man was found on Thursday morning on the Annandale Beach on the Essequibo Coast in Region Two.
According to a release from the police, an investigation has been launched into the discovery. Police said “acting on information received, a team of detectives and senior officers went to Annandale Seawall, where the ranks observed a decomposed body of a male (name, nationality, age, address, and relatives unknown, date and time of death also unknown).”
The body was observed lying on its back on the sand, clad in a red and blue jersey and a pair of black and white three-quarter trousers. It appeared that the head, abdomen, both hands and feet of the deceased were ‘eaten off’, which rendered it unidentifiable.
Police said that, “The body was examined for marks of violence, but this was unclear due to the state of decomposition. The body was later escorted to the Suddie Public Hospital, where it was seen and examined by Dr. Beharry, who pronounced dead on arrival.”
The decomposed remains were further escorted to the Suddie Public Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a post-mortem and examination samples were taken for DNA testing. Police have indicated that investigations are ongoing.
