Kaieteur Sports – Leewards skipper Tanez Francis stroked a classy second innings half-century to help seal a massive 8-wicket win over Guyana after day two’s action ended yesterday at the Inshan Ali Park, Trinidad and Tobago.
Taking first strike, Guyana made 124 all out thanks to Dave Mohabir (34*), Shamar Apple (23), Lomar Seecharran (16), Adrian Hetymer (15) and Emmanuel Lewis (14).
Leewards spinner Jathan Edwards starred with 4-35 before his team were to 154 in reply.
Parmeshwar Ram (3-22), Feeaz Baksh (3-47) and Navindra Sankar (2-26) led Guyana’s bowling in the first innings.
Resuming on 33-3, Guyana fell to 129 all out in their second innings with Hetmyer (28), Mohabir (24) and Apple (25) being the main contributors.
Three wickets apiece from Kasim Challenger and Edwards did enough for the Leewards in the second innings.
Skipper Francis then hit an 81-ball 64 to then pilot the Island Boys to victory as they finished on 103-2 in the 26th over.
