Kaieteur Sports – Former Guyana youth player Nigel Deodath slammed a brilliant, unbeaten 207 to help Fusion Sport Club beat Aces Cricket Club by 143 runs in a semi-final match of the 2025 Ontario Round-Arm Softball Cricket Association T20 Elite Division competition on Sunday at Albert McBride Park, Mississauga.
The right-handed Deodath hit an incredible 30 sixes and a four as Fusion Sport Club rattled up a mammoth 264-6 from the allotted 20-overs while Aces Cricket Club, in reply, was dismissed for 121 in the 17th over.
Deodath, known more for the left-arm orthodox spin in hard-ball cricket, also represented Berbice at the Senior Inter-County level.
Recently in the same competition, Deodath, who plays for Blairmont Cricket Club in Berbice, cracked a blistering 174.
Syed Hamid added 22 runs for Fusion Sport Club who was asked to take first strike as Naresh Prashad grabbed 3-29 from his maximum four overs.|
When Aces Cricket Club batted, Shawn Persaud scored 30 and 26 from Bernard DeSantos. Vekesh Beharry took 4-24 from his four-over spell to be Fusion Sport Club’s most outstanding bowler.
He got good support as well from Sanjeev Ramnarine, Seon Glasgow and Satesh Harilall.
Meanwhile, the final is slated for Sunday, September 7 at Dixe/407 in Brampton. Fusion Sport Club will clash with Masters, who defeated Sunshine by 96 runs in the other semi-final fixture.
Masters raced to 266-6 off 20-overs while Sunshine responded with 170 all out off 17.4 overs. Ex-Guyana Under-15 batsman Farouk Hussain struck a scintillating 171 to lead Masters to victory.
