Kaieteur Sports – The Junior Lady Jaguars U-14 side delivered a statement performance on Monday, edging Anguilla 1-0 in a tense Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Girls’ U-14 Challenge Series Tier II, Group C showdown.

With both sides unbeaten heading into the clash, Guyana struck early and never looked back. Just seven minutes in, striker Lehiana Bengamin stepped up from the spot and buried a composed left-footed penalty to hand the Jaguars the advantage.

From there, it was all about discipline and resilience. Captain Leandra Henrito, commanding from center-back, marshalled her teammates with maturity beyond her years, ensuring Anguilla’s forwards were kept at arm’s length. Defenders Kaliegh Todd and Skylar DeNobrega were equally immense, cutting out attacks and frustrating Anguilla’s attempts to claw back into the contest.

The second half saw Anguilla press hard for an equalizer, but Guyana’s backline held firm. Even with four minutes of stoppage time added, the Jaguars refused to crack, sealing a professional 1-0 victory.

The result lifts Guyana level on nine points with Anguilla at the top of the group, setting up a decisive final group-stage encounter today against a dangerous Cayman Islands outfit. A win there could cement the Golden Jaguars’ status as serious contenders in the Challenge Series.
