Kaieteur Sports – Guyanese Moin Khan and Canada-based Guyanese Imtiaz Abjal struck impressive half-centuries to spur Aces Cricket Club to a commanding, 7-wicket win over G. H. Reno Softball Club last Sunday in the 2025 Ontario Round-Arm Softball Cricket Association (ORSCA) round-robin T20 competition.
Aces Cricket Club safely reached 154-3 with 19 balls to spare in surpassing G. H. Reno Softball Club’s modest 149-9 from their allotted 20-overs.
Khan and Abjal restored the innings with their significant, unbroken 108-run third-wicket stand after Aces Cricket Club was tottering at 46-3 in the 7th over.
The left-handed Khan began his innings cautiously before accelerated by hitting nine sixes.
Abjal was also mixing solid defence with occasional aggression but his knock contained three effortless sixes.
Rajin Qutar collected two wickets for 28 runs from his maximum four overs, delivering for G. H. Reno Softball Club.
Aces Cricket Club won the toss and inserted the opposite side but they struggled for steady momentum despite a counterattacking 72 from Anil Bhagwandin. Bhagwandin clobbered six sixes displaying a great degree of belligerence as well.
Safraz Abjal, the brother of Imtiaz, was the pick of the bowlers for the winning combination by claiming 3-16 from four economical overs.
Trevor Chakalall also accounted for three victims but he conceded 30 runs off his four overs.
Aces Cricket Club is sitting at number 2 on the points’ standing with six wins from nine matches. Sunshine occupying the top-spot after triumphing with eight games.
The tournament which is expected to complete mid-September, will continue on August 10 with a series of matches across the Greater Toronto Area.
