Kaieteur News – The Theatre Guild on Parade Street, Kingston, Georgetown, is set to host the highly anticipated continuation of “The Untold” series with “The Untold 2 – The Letter” on July 26th and 27th, 2025. This gripping theatrical production, written and directed by the visionary Colleen Humphrey, promises to deliver another powerful exploration of society’s most challenging realities.
Following the success of the first installment presented in December at the Theatre Guild, “The Untold 2” represents more than just entertainment, it’s a platform for emerging talent and a mirror reflecting the harsh truths of contemporary Guyanese society.
Colleen Humphrey, the mastermind behind this production, has built her reputation on more than just creating compelling theatre. As the driving force behind the Theatre Guild’s workshop productions, Humphrey is passionate about cultivating talent and providing opportunities for those who might otherwise remain in the shadows.
“I respect renowned talent in theatre, but I’m not a fan of seeing one set of faces on TV when there are other talented people hoping for an opportunity,” Humphrey explains. Her workshop productions serve a dual purpose: training participants in theatre arts while creating performance opportunities that showcase their developing skills to the Guyanese public.
This philosophy of nurturing the underdog extends throughout “The Untold 2,” where workshop participants take center stage alongside special guest appearances by established performers including Sean Bhola, Latoya Whaul, Andrea Daniels and more.
“The Untold 2 – The Letter” doesn’t shy away from difficult subjects. Humphrey has crafted a narrative that boldly addresses prevailing societal issues including suicide, sexual abuse, betrayal, loss, trauma, and mental health, topics that often remain unspoken behind closed doors.
“The story contains harsh truths about our society,” Humphrey notes. “It’s raw and real, capturing what people aren’t talking about that happens behind closed doors.”
But beyond exposing these difficult realities, the production carries a message of hope and resilience, particularly encouraging young people to persevere through life’s challenges.
One of the production’s most exciting features is the “Trick or Treat” segment, designed specifically to highlight the breadth of artistic talent within the workshop community. This portion of the show will feature singers, dancers, poets, and other performers, creating a diverse showcase that celebrates multiple forms of artistic expression.
This approach aligns perfectly with Humphrey’s mission to democratize theatre and provide platforms for various artistic voices to be heard and appreciated by Guyanese audiences.
Beyond individual performances, Humphrey harbours a larger vision for “The Untold 2.” She hopes the production will foster greater appreciation and support for theatre arts in Guyana, demonstrating the power of live performance to address social issues while entertaining and inspiring audiences.
The Theatre Guild Workshop Production model represents an innovative approach to theatre development, combining education with public performance to create a sustainable ecosystem for emerging artists.
“The Untold 2 – The Letter” will be performed on both July 26th and 27th, 2025, with curtain time at 7:00 PM. Tickets are priced at $3000 and are available at The Theatre Guild.
For a community hungry for authentic, locally-produced content that speaks to real experiences, “The Untold 2” promises to deliver an evening of powerful storytelling, emerging talent, and social commentary that resonates long after the final curtain call.
