Kaieteur News – Presidential Candidate of the Forward Guyana Movement (FGM), Amanza Walton-Desir, along with members of the FGM leadership team, on Friday met with representatives of the Carter Center Election Observation Mission.
During the meeting, the delegation raised a number of electoral concerns including “attempts to stifle alternative political voices”.
According to a statement issued by the party, the FGM delegation welcomed the Carter Center’s continued engagement in Guyana’s electoral process and discussed a range of electoral concerns.
“The Forward Guyana Movement also took the opportunity to raise concerns about recent attempts to stifle alternative political voices and emphasized the importance of a level playing field during the election period.”
Friday’s meeting forms part of ongoing discussions with political stakeholders in the lead-up to the September 1, general and regional Eelections.
Also present at the meeting were Prime Ministerial Candidate Nigel Nyambe London, FGM Chairman Dorwain Bess, Elections Agent Nicholas Chesney, and National Candidates Malika Ramsey, Susan Farnum, Ronald Bulkan, and Randolph Critchlow.
FGM said it supports constructive dialogue with international partners and local stakeholders in advancing electoral integrity and democratic renewal in Guyana.
