Kaieteur News – A technician from Campbellville was on Friday released on $75,000 bail for wounding his brother.
Mark Edghill of Lot 29 Akawini Street, Campbellville, Georgetown, appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before acting Chief Magistrate, Faith McGusty.
Edghill pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on June 9, 2025 at Akawini Street, Campbellville, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded his brother Fitzalbert Small with intent to harm or inflict grievous bodily harm.
The accused was represented by Audreanna Thompson. The lawyer requested bail pointing out that since the day of the incident, the brothers have been living at the same address and have not had any issues since.
Thompson added that her client is not a flight risk and have no prior matters before the court.
The prosecution objected to bail, stating that the men were placed on a peace bond earlier in the year. It said it is concerned about the safety of the victim.
Small told the court that his brother threw oil with pepper in his face and also hit him in his head with a hammer causing him to receive six stitches in his head. Small said the issue stemmed from an electricity bill of $100,000. As a result, Small who is employed at the Guyana Power and Light, had the meter changed to a prepaid system.
“I only go to the house to sleep when he’s not there. I am scared for my life, he threatened to kill me,” Small said.
Meanwhile, small was also charged for assaulting Edghill on June 9, 2025 at Akawini Street, Campbellville. He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Small was also released on $10,000 bail for his charge and the brothers were placed on a peace bond. The matters were adjourned to August 8, 2025.
