Pomeroon man arrested for possession of cocaine

Kaieteur News – A 25-year-old labourer was arrested on Wednesday evening after he was found with 28.2 grams of cocaine.
Devon Greaves of Siriki Village, Upper Pomeroon River, was found with the cocaine at approximately 20:02hrs in the vicinity of Charity back street, Essequibo Coast, while officers of the Charity Police Station were on mobile patrol duty.
According to a statement from the Guyana Police Force (GPF), Greaves was walking on the road when patrol ranks observed him acting suspiciously. He was stopped and a search was requested to which he agreed.
“A search was conducted, and Greaves was found to be in possession of four (4) transparent plastic bags containing several whitish/creamish rock-like substances suspected to be cocaine,” police said.
The ranks took possession of the cocaine, and Greaves was made aware of the offence committed and cautioned, he replied: “Officer, I collected it from my soldier.” He was arrested and taken to the Charity Police Station where the drugs were weighed and lodged.
