Chinese nationals fined $15,000 for assault

Kaieteur News – Two Chinese nationals were fined $15,000 each on Thursday for Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm.
The duo, who are labourers, was identified as 37-year-old Cai Zhiming and 27-year-old Qiu Weifu of Lot 76 First Avenue Bartica.
They appeared at the Bartica Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Teriq Mohammed where the charge was read.
Zhiming and Weifu both pleaded guilty to the charge which alleged that they committed the offence on Jason James.
Magistrate Mohammed in handing down the decision told the Chinese nationals that failure to pay the fine would result in two weeks’ imprisonment.
The men were arrested on July 9, 2025.
