Dear Editor,
Kaieteur News – I am writing with a heavy heart after the tragic accident that claimed the life of Leon Sikandar on UG Road. Leon’s death occurred when a speeding car crossed over the median and collided head-on with him, a horrific event that could have just as easily involved any of us.
What makes this even more heartbreaking is that Leon was an innocent victim, with no fault of his own in the accident. It’s a stark reminder of how vulnerable we all are when proper safety measures are not in place. I urge the authorities to take immediate action and install a metal barrier or any other effective physical separation between the two lanes of traffic on the roadways.
A simple, yet critical, measure like this could prevent more needless loss of life and offer peace of mind to countless families who travel this road daily. It’s time to prioritise safety and ensure that this doesn’t happen again.
A concerned citizen and grieved friend
