Kaieteur News – Thirty-four-year-old Andra Stewart who was remanded last month for allegedly discharging a loaded firearm in a public place, was on Monday released on $125,000 bail.
Stewart, of Guyhoc Park and Fifth Street, Alberttown, Georgetown, and 23-year-old Lidj Grant of Lot 408 ‘A’ Field, Sophia, Georgetown, were separately charged for the same offense which occurred on May 20, 2025, at Plum Park, Sophia, Greater Georgetown.
The men made their first court appearance before Senior Magistrate Fabayo Azore on May 27 at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court. Grant was released on $250,000 bail with conditions, while Stewart was denied bail due to him committing an offence while on bail for another serious offence.
The defense at the time was led by attorney Travis Ferreira who represented Grant, while attorney Ronald Bostwick represented Stewart.
During Monday’s hearing, Stewart appeared via zoom and Grant in person before Senior Magistrate Azore at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
The court heard that the prosecution was not in possession of the files, and as a result Magistrate Azore released Stewart on bail. The matters were adjourned to July 28, 2025.
