Kaieteur News – A 45-year-old man was on Friday sentenced to six months’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to damaging four car windows.
The accused, Quinton Haywood of Lot 179 Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, appeared before Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that Haywood on June 15, 2025 at Pineapple Street, East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, damaged four car windows valued $300,000, property of Rickford Gillis.
The prosecution told the court that on the day in question, at about 03:00hrs the victim’s motorcar HD 4782 was parked at his East Ruimveldt residence, when the accused returned from a football match and placed his box of food on the car and went to the shop. Upon his return, he saw that his food was gone which made him furious. Haywood then armed himself with several ‘big bricks’ and broke the victim’s car windows.
Gillis was alerted and reviewed his CCTV footage. He said he saw Haywood committing the act. A report was made and the accused was arrested, and while under caution he admitted to the allegations and was later charged.
Magistrate Singh before making her decision, asked Haywood why she should not give him the highest penalty. He apologised for his actions and was later sentenced.
