Kaieteur News – A 25-year-old security officer was on Friday granted $100,000 bail for wounding his reputed wife.
Kevon French of Lot 408 Onderneeming La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Magistrate Annette Singh.
French pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on May 28, 2025 at Thomas Lands, Georgetown, he inflicted grievous bodily harm to 35-year-old Althea Morris.
The prosecution objected to bail stating that the victim is currently hospitalised due to the serious nature of her wounds and is fearful for her life.
Magistrate Singh granted French bail on condition that he stay 100 yards away from the victim and must not attempt to contact her in any way. The magistrate informed French that failure to comply, will result in the bail being revoked and him being remanded until the end of the trial.
The matter was adjourned to July 4, 2025.
