Kaieteur News- The Parfaite Harmonie and Parika Salem Primary Schools in Region Three are expected to undergo extensions at the cost of $63.3 million through the Regional Democratic Council (RDC).
In an invitation for bids, the regional administration revealed that the works set for Parfaite Harmonie Primary is estimated to cost $37.3 million, while the project for Parika Salem Primary will cost $26 million.
This publication understands that the project will form part of the region’s $8 billion allocation for education delivery.
Kaieteur News understands that the project is part of the government’s broader initiative to improve the access and quality of education for all children. The government announced that it would be repairing and upgrading schools across the country to ensure children learn in a safe and comfortable environment.
Bids for the projects are expected to be open on June 10 at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board office.
Government has been extending schools to accommodate growing student populations, sanitary facilities and staff rooms. Over 17 primary schools have been extended countrywide over the last few years.
