Kellog’s U14 Hockey League heats up with blistering showdowns
– Grit, Goals, and Glory dominate at Marian Academy Rink
Kaieteur Sports- The Kellog’s Boys’ and Girls’ U14 Indoor Development Hockey League delivered another round of high-octane, stick-slapping action this past Friday at Marian Academy, as ten matchups lit the rink ablaze in week two of the 2025 season.
After a thrilling opening day, the Guyana Hockey Board (GHB) kept the tempo red-hot with more dazzling displays from the next generation of hockey stars.
The OFHC Warriors wasted no time making a statement, dumping Hikers Hatchets 5–2 in a contest loaded with attacking flair. Meshach Reid lit the lamp just two minutes in, only for Simeon Smith to answer right back with a field goal moments later. But the Warriors weren’t fazed Omalo Layne reclaimed the lead six minutes later, then buried two more screamers to notch a hat trick and blow the game open. Reid closed things off with his second to seal the win.

The OFHC Gladiators followed with a demolition job, trouncing SHC Sigma 9–3 behind a six-goal masterclass from Brandon Layne, whose blade was as sharp as ever. The Sigmas found the back of the net thrice but were no match for the Gladiators’ firepower.
In other Group ‘A’ action, GCC Pitbulls clawed their way to an 8–6 shootout victory over the Gladiators and followed up with a clinical 6–0 shutout of the Warriors to solidify their bite in the standings.
The OFHC Show Stoppers lived up to their billing in emphatic fashion, steamrolling SHC Snipers 10–0 in a no-mercy performance. Meanwhile, Multi skated to a commanding 5–2 win over SHC Scorpions, showing poise and precision in the attacking circle.
Girls’ Division: High Fliers take flight
In the girls’ half of the draw, Royann Sancho proved to be the difference-maker for the OFHC High Fliers, netting two composed finishes; one in each half as they clipped the wings of the GCC Her-ricanes 2–0. Sancho wasn’t done, linking up with Jasmine De Santos to deliver a carbon-copy 2–0 win over SHC Sensation in match #12.
The SHC Slayers showed no mercy in their 5–1 rout of Multi, while GCC Her-ricanes bounced back with a hard-fought 2–1 edge over Multi in a gritty finale.
The league resumes this Friday, May 23, with more stick battles at St Stanislaus College, with the first face-off at 4:00 p.m. The 2025 U14 Indoor League, proudly powered by Kellog’s, continues to spotlight future stars in fast-paced, end-to-end indoor hockey action.
