Kaieteur News- Police are investigating a fatal accident which occurred Monday afternoon on the public road at Charity, Essequibo Coast, which resulted in the death of Troy Singh, a 30-year-old motorcyclist.
In a statement police said the accident involved Singh’s motorcycle (CM 6673) and a truck GDD 5397, owned and driven by a 47-year-old man from Charity Housing Scheme.
The truck driver said he was proceeding west on the Charity Public Road, while the motorcyclist was proceeding east at a fast rate.
The truck driver said he was making a right turn on the road when he suddenly saw the motorcyclist, who lost control and skidded towards his vehicle on the road surface. The motorcycle collided with the front of the lorry.
The driver said he picked up the motorcyclist in an unconscious state and conveyed him to the Charity Cottage Public Hospital, where he was seen and examined by Doctor N. Cozier, GMO, for trauma to the head and lacerations about his body. The victim was pronounced dead at 14:37 hrs. while receiving medical attention. The truck driver was arrested and escorted to the Charity Police Station, where he was placed into custody, assisting with the ongoing investigation.
