Some ah we people so good at lying, Satan himself woulda call a press conference and seh, “I resign. I cyan compete!”
Dem boys seh one man does stand up pon stage and seh he deh at a meeting—when not only he wasn’t there, but de meeting never even happen! And he talk so sweet, you start believing you was de one who wasn’t there, not he.
Next man does come pon TV wid he Sunday church face, and tell yuh how he get a special assignment from “up top” to go inspect a project. Project ain’t even start yet, but he done report how de tiles deh slippery and de walls need painting. That is talent!
Some of dem need an Academy Award. Best Actor, Best Supporting Liar, Best Original Fabrication. Dem boys she, we should open we own Hollywood in Guyana. Name it “Falsewood”—where dreams are made up and reality get lost.
Dem boys seh de real scary part ain’t de lie dem tell. Is de crowd who clap fuh it! Thousands does believe dem, repeat dem same lie at work, and even defend it online like if it is some religious text.
Is like if a man tell yuh rain fall last night, and you know full well de place dry like crackers. But because he got a lil suit and a microphone, yuh watching de dry road and wondering if you blind or just stupid.
Dem boys seh Guyanese don’t need magician. We got professional illusionists. Dem could mek truth disappear, mek fiction look like fact, and mek people who shoulda know better, follow dem like sheep.
One thing fuh sure—if lying was an Olympic sport, Guyana done qualify, win gold, and still file protest that dem deserve platinum.
