GBF selects U23 players, Coach for 3×3 training in Paraguay
Kaieteur Sports- The Guyana Basketball Federation’s (GBF) 3×3 basketball programme will benefit from the Guyana Olympic Association’s (GOA) Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Paraguayan Olympic Committee, ahead of the Junior Pan Am Games.
Stephen George, Anish Ramlall, Domitre Ranking, and Arren Vanlewin, along with Coach Willon Cameron, will participate in a high-performance training camp in Paraguay from June 9–13.

The training camp is designed for U23 athletes preparing for this year’s Junior Pan Am Games, which will take place in Asunción from August 9 to 23.
“The GBF welcomes the opportunity to expose our young players to a format of the game that is a high priority in our vision for basketball in Guyana,” said GBF president Michael Singh in a statement issued by the federation.
Coach Cameron, a physical education teacher at President’s College, holds a degree in Sports Coaching from the University of the West Indies, as well as a FIBA Level 2 certification. He is also known for leading the Colts Basketball Club to back-to-back national titles as head coach.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Vanlewin, who hails from Kwakwani and plays with Untouchables, has previously represented Guyana at the Inter-Guiana Games (IGG).
Ramlall, also 19, is a student-athlete at St. Cloud State University. According to Singh, he has consistently shown commitment to all formats of the game in Guyana.
George, 18, is a key player for the Amelia’s Ward Jets. The GBF believes he has a bright future, and the training program in Paraguay will play a crucial role in shaping his development and preparing him for a smooth transition to the Senior Men’s National Team.
Ranking, 19, who plays with the Colts Basketball Club, is another player under close watch by the GBF. The federation is actively supporting his development with the goal of eventually integrating him into the senior men’s program.
“3×3 basketball is a vital part of our efforts to elevate the sport,” Singh added. “Through partnerships like this with the GOA, we are able to give our emerging talent the exposure they need.”
“We also welcome the opportunity to expose our coaches, and Coach Cameron is a worthy candidate. He has taken deliberate steps to become qualified, and his work at the youth level, especially at President’s College, speaks for itself. While 3×3 may be a new coaching format for him, we are confident that he will apply his knowledge from the traditional game effectively,” Singh said.
The GBF expressed its gratitude to the GOA for the opportunity and said it looks forward to further collaboration to develop all formats of basketball in Guyana.
