-Sarjoo and Alexander star with ball in EBDCA/R. Dookie T20 tourney
Kaieteur Sports- The Ryan Dookie Memorial T20 Championship, hosted by the East Bank Demerara Cricket Association (EBDCA), continued with a string of riveting encounters on Sunday and Monday last, as Silver Bullet Sports Club, Uprising SC, Laluni CC, and Ruimveldt SC registered comprehensive victories in the ongoing 2025 tournament.
At the Laluni Community Centre Ground on Sunday, Silver Bullet SC made light work of Patrewta Sawmill SC, cruising to a comfortable nine-wicket victory in a one-sided affair. Bowling first, Silver Bullet’s Patrick Alexander delivered a devastating spell, bagging a five-wicket haul (5-3) as Patrewta Sawmill was skittled out for just 34 in 11 overs.
In reply, Ridge Rajaram came out blazing, smashing 25 in quick time, including a four and two towering sixes. Silver Bullet chased down the target in just 3.2 overs, finishing on 37-1.
In the second fixture on Sunday, Uprising CC chased down a competitive total to defeat Laluni CC by three wickets. Batting first, Laluni posted 149-9 from their 20 overs, with Julian Mohabir anchoring the innings with a composed 41, supported by handy contributions from Josiah Lim and Wayne La Rose, both scoring 29.
Uprising’s bowlers kept things tight; Tameshwarnauth Sankar returned impressive figures of 3-16, while Laurel Parks chipped in with 2-19. In the run-chase, Triston Bynoe (34) and Parks (30) kept the scoreboard ticking as Uprising reached 150-7 with four balls to spare, sealing a well-earned win.
Laluni bounced back on Monday to notch up a five-wicket win over the EBDCA Under-23s. Batting first, the young EBDCA side was bundled out for just 63 in 14.2 overs. Laluni’s Sunil Sarjoo was the wrecker-in-chief, claiming 5-3 in a fiery spell.
In reply, Laluni CC overcame a few stumbles, reaching 64-5. Nolan Hodge struck a brisk 23 (2 fours, 2 sixes) while Wayne La Rose added 15 to guide their team to victory with plenty of overs to spare.
Meanwhile, the day’s second clash saw a commanding performance from Ruimveldt SC, who thrashed Timehri CC by a massive 161 runs. Batting first, Ruimveldt piled on 231-7, thanks to unbeaten fireworks from Tuen Hicks (81*) and a powerful 64 from Shamar Apple, who punished the bowling with strokes all around the park. Timehri’s chase never got going and they folded for 70, with Rickey Sargeant (3-10) and Quincy Jones (3-14) sharing the spoils in a dominant bowling display.
As the 2025 tournament heats up, more exciting matches are set for this weekend’s action across the designated venues.
