Kaieteur News- Rain fallin’ steady steady nowadays, and Guyana done reach that time of de year when a lil drizzle does turn into a flood — especially in town. Georgetown does get so waterlogged, some people start askin’ if de city council applyin’ fuh river status.
Now every time de rain fall, certain things bound to happen. De trench gon’ overflow, de canal gon’ start lookin’ like soup, and of course, people gon’ get splash out like dem is part o’ de Atlantic Ocean. Dem boys seh one drop in a pothole and de whole street get baptize!
But hear nah, dem boys got a serious message today. Too many drivers flyin’ through flooded roads like dem auditionin’ fuh Fast & Furious: Flood Edition. And when dem do dat, dem don’t only mess up dem own car underbody — dem also spray people walkin’ or ridin’ on de road like dem is mosquitoes.
Dem boys seh it got people who leffin’ home neat and nice, shirt and pants crisp, headin’ to work or school, only fuh end up lookin’ like dem come out a swamp. It ain’t fair, man. People ain’t gettin’ wet from de rain — dey gettin’ wet from y’all careless drivin’!
Now we know some ah y’all ain’t do it on purpose. But still, tek yuh time! Yuh know de pothole deh dey. Yuh know de water coverin’ de road. Slow down! Ease off de gas pedal! Show some conscience, show some decency.
It ain’t only about yuh gettin’ where yuh goin’ fast. Is about not ruining somebody else day just because you in a rush. Dem boys seh when yuh splash a man and he buss cuss pon yuh, don’t blame de man — blame yuhself.
So during this rainy season, drive like yuh got sense. Look out fuh people walkin’, ridin’, and tryin’ fuh reach somewhere dry. Cause when yuh drench people, it ain’t just water — it’s mud, stink water, and embarrassment.
Drive with heart. Don’t mek people feel like dem livin’ in a duck pond.
Dem boys seh, tek yuh time — or tek de blame!
Talk half. Leff half!
