Dear Editor,
On the Corentyne, people are fed up of the neglect of the region and the lies from the PPP. The ruling party is penalizing ten-day workers who don’t show up for PPP rallies or who did not put on red tee-shirts for last March memorial at Babu John. It was bussed in crowd. More and more people are turning away from PPP because of abuse of power and awarding of contracts to friends, families, and partners. The PPP is no longer the party of the Jagan’s.
People want change. People are talking about Mr. Azruddin Mohamed and Mr. Glenn Lall. Azruddin came several times to Corentyne, most recently last Monday. We were looking forward for Mr. Glenn Lall to visit our community. We are so pleased that he visited Port Mourant. He received a very warm reception. People voiced their concerns about the harshness of life and difficulties of making ends meet. People are glad that he is thinking of contesting the 2025 general and regional elections. They look forward for a greater presence of Mr. Glenn on the Corentyne. They have greater trust and faith in him to turn around their lives than PPP leaders Irfaan and Jagdeo.
Mr. Glenn is reminded that the fruit of success is not in a bottle that you can open and drink. You have to do the work on the ground to win the public’s confidence and garner support. He must visit communities all over the country as Azruddin has been doing.
People look forward for when Azruddin and Glenn would come together. That is a winning combination.
Yours truly,
Terrence Moore, Pastor Leon Benjamain
