Kaieteur News- Two brothers were shot on Friday by a security guard after they stabbed him while he attempted to settle a disagreement.
The brothers have been identified as Randy and Ryan Narine of La Bonne Intention, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Police said that the incident occurred at around 20:40 hrs.
Reports are that the 25-year-old security officer who is employed with CMC Security Service was on duty at the O_GUO Supermarket at the Enterprise Railway Embankment East Coast Demerara at the time of the incident.
The Narine brothers reportedly stabbed the security guard, and this resulted in them being shot in the right foot.
The police said that, “Inquiries revealed that on the date and time mentioned, the 25-year-old security guard was on duty at the supermarket, armed with a shotgun and live cartridges. It is alleged that the brothers, Ryan and Randy, entered the supermarket to purchase beers and chocolate. While at the counter, Ryan had a disagreement with the cashier over the price of the items, and the security guard intervened.”
As a result, a confrontation ensued with the security guard, Randy who was at the time armed with a knife, his brother Ryan and another individual known as “Boy.” It was during the confrontation that Randy inflicted the stab wound to the left side abdomen of the security guard, who subsequently discharged two rounds from the shotgun which he was carrying, injuring both brothers.
The Emergency Medical Technicians from the Melanie Fire Station were summoned, and Randy and Ryan were transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) via ambulance. The security guard was also taken to GPHC by public-spirited citizens. The three individuals were admitted and are currently in stable condition.
Investigations are ongoing.
