Kaieteur News- Sixty companies have expressed their interest in constructing the Hope-like canal structure in Region Three, a project which is being executed through the Ministry of Agriculture.
This is according to the information provided during the latest opening of tenders at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) office.
According to NPTAB, the list of bidders are: Strategy & Development Consulting Inc, Fiuze & Safraz Construction Services, MVR Construction, Morris Jeffrey Enterprise, Cedar Engineering, D&R Construction & Machinery Rental, A&E Construction, Supplies & Services, BK International Inc, Diamond Construction, Zeebo & Sons, S. Maraj Contracting Services, Fyuse Hoosain Construction Inc, GuyGen Inc, Abrams General Contracting Services Inc, A&S General Store, Adamantium Holdings, STP Investments Inc, Bhowan Trucking & Construction Service, H. Ramballi General Construction, Ameer’s Enterprises, Kingston Strategic Inc, Epcot Enterprise Inc, HRS Investment & Logistics Inc, Benchmark Construction, AJM Enterprise, Z&J Enterprise Inc, SAAS Procurement & Contracting Services, SP Engineering & Construction Services, HKC Machineries, S.H Advance Contracting Services, S. Jagmohan Construction & General Supplies Inc, Nyox, Roopan Ramotar Investment, and FD Investments.
Applied Services, J&R General Construction Services, Safrazsahabah General Construction & Hardware Supplies, S Triple J’s Enterprise, K&S Peetum Construction, J’s Construction & Engineering Services, Two Brothers Construction & Logistics Inc, S. Caimraj Construction Service, Pro Business, Synchro Tech, Khemraj Nauth Inc, Quality Deliverer, Well Built Construction Services, R&N Construction Services, VS Group Inc, Legend Enterprise, Rans Contracting & Supplies, Colin Talbot Contracting Services, Compass Industrial Services, Buddy’s Construction, M.K Hoosein Contracting, JJ Mining & Construction, Persaud Engineering & Hydraulic Services, SHVAC Mechanical Inc, Crown Road Drainage Contractors, and Gaico Construction & General Services Inc. also submitted bids.
This newspaper had reported that the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), an agency under the Ministry of Agriculture, will be executing the project.
The construction of the canal will be at B-Line, Canals Polder, West Bank of Demerara. In its tender document the agency noted that the project is for a six-month period.
Of the responsibilities the selected contractor would be tasked with, NDIA explained that the contractor will be tasked with the construction of earthen canal and adjoining embankment to lines and levels, as stated in the Standards and Specification document provided by the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority.
The contractor is to take all necessary precautions when constructing the canal’s embankment and preserve the material below and beyond the lines of excavation in the soundest possible condition.
This publication understands that when completed, the canal is set to serve more than 9,800 acres of farmland providing irrigation channel for Canal No.1 and neighbouring communities.
