Kaieteur News- A 54-year-old contractor succumbed to his injuries on Thursday morning after he was involved in an accident at Heroes Highway, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
The dead man has been identified as Newton Bobb. Bobb reportedly died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) while receiving medical treatment.
This publication reported that on Tuesday between 8:30h and 8:55h, the vehicle Bobb was driving was forced into a light pole by a speeding truck. Reports indicate that the truck driver was moving at a fast rate and lost control while trying to avoid hitting a line of parked trucks on the road. While swerving to avoid the parked trucks, the truck collided with Bobb’s vehicle, which was traveling in another lane. As a result, the vehicle was forcefully pushed into a nearby light pole.
