Kaieteur News- A 63-year-old man was on Wednesday placed on $20,000 bail, when he appeared at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court to answer to an assault, causing actual bodily harm charge.
Orwin Drakes of Lot 2427 North Ruimveldt was charged with assaulting Valoma Simpson on March 10, 2025 at the said address.
Drakes pleaded not guilty to the charge which was read to him by Acting Chief Magistrate, Faith McGusty.
Drakes’ attorney requested reasonable bail for his client and reassured the court of his innocence.
In addition to granting bail, Magistrate McGusty also placed Drake and Simpson on a peace bond. They are scheduled to return to court on April 16, 2025.
