He said it was Teejay’s vision. Teejay according to Kartel, flew to the factory in Trinidad after Angostura had approached him and his team with a business proposal to create the rum.
“He call me back, a few days later and he was like dada this it. We ready and I was like ok everything is set”, Kartel recalled.
Since its first launch, Kartel said containers of the rum have been sold in Jamaica within the first two days.
The dancehall artiste said he was impressed by the sales and immediately travelled to Trinidad to meet with the company’s management and staff.
After his remarks, the artiste officially launched the rum in Guyana with a ceremonial ribbon cutting ceremony, and gave a brief performance.
Those present at the media launch got a chance to sample the different blends of rum.
There was also an after party for special guests at 8pm.
