Kaieteur Sports- Guyana ladies, carried by their trio of class bowlers alongside a defiant half-century from captain Shemaine Campbelle, saw them serve up a 122- run thrashing which they handed Leeward Islands yesterday at Warner Park, St. Kitts & Nevis.
Batting first paid off for the Guyanese ladies, who posted an imposing 178 all out in 43.5 overs, thanks to a captain’s knock from Campbelle who led with a busy 77 from 97 balls (5×4 1×6).
Guyanese Spin twins Ashmini Munisar and Plaffiana Millington combined for 7 wickets yesterday
Number three batsman, Realanna Grimmond followed up her half-century with a composed 30 from 49 with four fours, mirrored by Ashmini Munisar (30) who hit three boundaries.
Two wickets apiece from Davronique Maynard and Sainavi Kambalapalli helped support Kimberly Anthony who finished with 3-20, bowling for Leeward Island.
Shemaine Campbelle played a Captain’s knock yesterday as she carried Guyana with her half-century
It was a sad batting attempt by the Leeward ladies, who were bombed down for a measly 56 all out in 24.1 overs, with skipper Amanda Edwards (13) headlining a card where no other player managed to sneak into double figures.
It was a bowling masterclass from Guyana led by the former West Indies Under-19 spinner Ashmini Munisar, who starred with 4-12, sharing 7 wickets alongside veteran off-spinner Plafianna Millington who had 3-25; with medium-pacer Cherry-Ann Fraser bagging an impressive 3-18 to help capsize Leewards.

Leewards never got out of the blocks thanks to the seam/spin combination of Fraser and Millington, who shook the batting order with 5 quick wickets between them, leaving their opponents clinging to life at 21-5 inside 10 overs.
Munisar then mopped up the tail, first knocking over top-scorer Claxton before forcing Maynard into a loose shot, only to be caught at slip, followed by the wicket of Anthony.
Edwards held out in a tough situation eventually running out of partners as her 45-ball, boundaryless innings remained unbroken as Fraser and Munisar put the final nails in the coffin.
Next match will see Guyana looking to maintain their hot streak when they face Windward Islands on March 3. (C.R)
