Kaieteur News-In the beginning of year, there is much talk about goal setting and resolutions, but what good is a goal without practical steps to achieving them. This is where the concept of creating a vision board comes in.  A vision board is a collection of images and words that represent your goals and dreams. This tool can help you stay motivated and focused on what you want to achieve.

Guyanese designer and businesswoman, Sonia Noel, has been hosting the transformative vision board event to offer her clients an avenue to collectively develop roadmaps for personal growth, fulfillment, and purpose.

The designer told The Waterfalls that without it, persons can feel lost, directionless, or overwhelmed by life’s possibilities. Noel’s approach to vision boards is rooted in the belief that vision is not just a mental exercise; it’s a divine blueprint for the life a person is meant to live.

Drawing inspiration from the Bible, she often references Habakkuk 2:2: “Write the vision; make it plain on tablets, so he may run who reads it.”

“One of the greatest gifts given to us is vision, and there are many people who can see but have no vision,” she said adding  that’s where vision boards come in to help persons map out where they are going, making the journey clearer, more focused, and ultimately, more meaningful.

Much like planning a trip, the act of creating a vision board is about charting a course toward your goals. Each image chosen, each word written is a landmark that represents a future goal, whether it’s personal growth, career success, relationships, or health. Once the map is laid out, the journey to making those dreams a reality begins with focused intention and consistent action.

For Abigail Brower, a client of Noel’s, the vision board process was a turning point that brought clarity to her personal and professional goals.

She said, “Creating my vision board has been transformative, providing clarity and a constant reminder of my goals. It helped me prioritize what truly matters and align my decisions with my vision. Since then, I’ve made more confident progress and taken meaningful steps toward achieving my goals. The vision board continues to inspire and motivate me, making my dreams feel more achievable every day.”

The magic of vision boards lies in a person ability to give more than just a destination but provide the clarity, confidence, and motivation to take the necessary steps toward their dreams. By visualizing goals daily, a person can keep them front and center, like a compass that always points a person in the right direction.

“Two specific goals from my vision board were to improve my spiritual growth and own my vehicle and I achieved both.  I truly believe that when your spiritual life is aligned with God’s will, everything else in your life tends to fall into place more effortlessly. As a result, my prayer life has become more intentional, and I’m beginning to witness the true manifestation of God’s work in my life,” Brower continued.

Noel emphasizes, a vision board is only part of the equation. It’s not just about dreaming; it’s about taking action.

“People often face several challenges if they don’t have a vision for their lives, because vision provides direction, motivation, and purpose. It fuels our passion and drives us to overcome obstacles,” she related.

That’s where the vision board events make a profound impact. They are not just about creating a visual representation of your goals, they are about creating a community of like-minded individuals who share their wins, struggles, and progress along the way. The shared support and accountability help keep the momentum going, ensuring that participants stay on track as they take one intentional step after another toward their dreams.

“The processes of creating my vision board create my mindset and goals really help me to focus and give me a new mindset because of this program. I understand how to visualize my life by creating this vision board. I imagine myself living in the moment while creating this vision board I visualize myself while posing these images like if it’s real,” Marcia Trotz, another participant said.

The designer explained vision boards also have the power to unlock new possibilities.

Once there is clarity for one’s vision, and action is being done, persons will begin to notice opportunities that may have previously been out of reach.

As participants continue to reflect on and revise their vision boards, they often experience life changing transformations manifesting everything from career milestones to improved relationships to personal growth.

The designer said one of her favourite success stories comes from a client who included law school as a goal on her vision board. By the end of the year, she had completed her first semester, a proof that when a person’s vision is clear, the path ahead becomes achievable.

Noel explained, “Taking the first step, no matter how small, creates momentum. Action leads to tangible results, which provide evidence of progress and fuel further motivation. We were all born with greatness and a purpose to fulfill. At its core, a vision board is a powerful tool that keeps one connected to their purpose and goals, even when life gets busy or uncertain. Whether an individual is setting new intentions at the start of the year or recalibrating mid-year, the vision board serves as a visual anchor, a daily reminder of their destination, purpose, and potential.
