Kaieteur News- Dis man flying down de road, doing 90 in a 80 zone. Outta nowhere, he see flashing lights in he rearview. Police hot on he tail. Dis man think quick, seh to heself, “Nah, I ain’t pulling over just yet.”
De man bin having some drinks before. So he realize he in bigger problems than simply speeding. So he mash gas—95, 100, 110, 140. He did trying fuh lose de police patrol car. But de faster he go, de patrol car still deh behind like a shadow. De man finally seh, “Dis ain’t mekkin sense,” and he pull over.
De officer walk up slow-slow, looking cautious, like he dealing wid a wild animal. De man roll down he window and put both hands out, playing all innocent.
“You know you was speeding, right?” de officer seh. “But listen, it’s de end of me shift, and me boys meeting up fuh some beers and a game of dominoes. So you get one chance fuh explain why you tekking liberty wid de speed limit.”
De man tek a deep breath, put on he best innocent face, and seh, “Officer, leh me tell you de truth. Bout a year ago, me wife run away wid a traffic policeman. I seh, ‘Good riddance!’ Best ting ever happen to me. But when I see your lights, meh heart jump. I swear you was bringing she back.”
De officer stop, tek a hard look at de man, and then he buss out laughing. He seh, “Alright, drive safe. And keep yuh speed down next time!”
