Kaieteur Sports – Saturday’s triple-header at Meten-Meer-Zorg Ground finished with victories for the Berbice Caimans, Berbice Piranhas and the Demerara Pitbulls.
Berbice Caimans defeat Demerara Hawks by 29-runs
Algoo led his team with a robust 80 off 27 balls clobbering 9 maximums with five fours while Kevin Sinclair had 33, Captain Kevlon Anderson 16 and Steven Sankar (12*).
Caimans finished nicely on 148-3 as the Hawks bowlers Zeynul Ramsammy (1-32), Aryan Persaud (1-22) and Ronaldo Alimohamed (1-18).
The Hawks would then be left stranded on 119-6 despite Rampersaud Ramnauth (40), Joshua Persaud (16), Ramsammy (12) and Alimohamed (11), putting up a fight.
Sinclair led with 2-7, while Guyana Harpy Eagles duo of Sylus Tyndall and Steven Sankar along with first division players Bernard Bailey and Devon Lord; chipping in with a wicket each.
Piranhas racked up 148-3 from 10 overs after an assault led by Quentin Sampson who nailed 83 from 23 not out with 11 sixes and just 3 fours.
Regional spinner Ashmead Nedd picked up 2-20 while fast-bowlers Nial Smith (1-32) and Dwain Dick (1-12) alongside Dimitri Cameron (1-24) were the wicket-takers for the Jaguars.
The Jags could only muster 93 all out in the chase with Guyana Harpy Eagles wicket-keeper Kemol Savory giving his team some hope with 24 from 10 (1×4 3×6).
Opener Chandrapaul Hemraj (17) and Dick (14) and Carlos Larose (11) were the other run-getters for the Essequibo franchise.
Spin wizard Veerasammy Permaul had another good match, bagging 3-27 with help from Garfield Phillips (2-7) while consistency continued from Ricky Sargeant, Nigel Deodat and a few others who grabbed a wicket each.
Hawks final score batting first saw them end on 73-7 with lone top-scorer Aryan Persaud beating 46 off 27 deliveries inclusive of 6 fours.
Pitbulls skipper Chris Barnwell had another good game with 2-11. Leon Swamy, Malcom Hubbard and Junior Sinclair each finished with a scalp.
Sinclair then hammered three fours and two sixes in his 34 at the top of the order Hubbard (17) and Sachin Singh (12) saw the Pitbulls to 77-2.
