Kaieteur News – Thirty years in the life of any organisation is a tremendous achievement by any standards. As EIC one of the big challenges encountered daily is what to separate to make the final publishing cut.

In this time of oil, and Guyanese knowing so little of its mysteries, there are often many developments that are happening on the run.

This makes deciding on which ones to prioritise all that more testing. The objective is not to miss anything, but there are some things that just must be left out. Oil and gold could be the glory of Guyana, and we are right there sifting and separating to get to the truth of what is really taking place. It is the many stories that are behind the one big headline story.

This relentless pursuit to bring transparency to citizens about the realities of their natural resources’ assets have incurred the wrath of different governments at different times. This has been such an embedded feature in our existence of 30 years that government anger has become second nature to us. As we celebrate, we know that the road ahead will continue to pose challenges, but we must carry on.

Kaieteur News will always be my family. Having been employed there for almost 26 years, I’ve spent more than half my life with this newspaper. And what a journey it has been, to witness this newspaper climb from its humble beginnings to being the number one paper in Guyana and New York’s most popular weekly.

The lessons learnt, experiences gained, and people I’ve met along the way has made me into the man I am today, and for that, I will be eternally grateful. On this momentous occasion, I want to say, Happy 30th Anniversary, and continued blessings to Kaieteur News Publisher Mr. Glenn Lall and team.

May you continue to be truthful, accurate, balanced, objective and responsible in your mandate of keeping the people of this country educated and informed.
