Kaieteur Sports – In a bid to secure a coveted spot at the 2024 World Cup scheduled for Germany, the Guyana Darts Association (GDA) has meticulously named a formidable four-member team to represent the Golden Arrowhead at the upcoming Professional Darts Cooperation (PDC) Qualifier in San Jose, Costa Rica.
The two-day tournament organised by the Championship Darts Latin and Caribbean (CDLC) is set to take place at Rikuras Bar (La Ruta de Sabor), Hatillo, San José Province, San José, from April 6-7. The qualifier will see Guyana pitting its darting prowess among seven other nations for the opportunity to advance to the global stage.
Meanwhile, the GDA has held its local qualifier last February at the Malteenoes Sports Club. Notably, top local club, Foreign Link Darts Club, made a resounding statement by sending three entries to the qualifiers, all of whom subsequently clinched spots in the four-member team bound for Costa Rica.
Under the banner of Guyana, two formidable teams have been assembled to vie for glory. The first team comprises Norman Madhoo and Sudeshpersaud Fitzgerald, while the second team features Christopher Lochan and Anthony Bissoondyal.
With the tournament kicking off this Saturday, participants will navigate through the group (round-robin) stages before delving into the high-stakes knockout rounds on Sunday.
Expressing enthusiasm and anticipation for the upcoming challenge, both the GDA and Foreign Link Darts Club extend warm regards to the four-member team entrusted with representing the Golden Arrowhead.

Flashback of Trials night at Malteenoes! Both teams are eager to compete at this year’s World Cup qualifiers.
Reflecting on Guyana’s rich history of producing top-tier darts players in the Caribbean, the association remains optimistic about the prospect of securing another spot at the World Cup and further enhancing the nation’s performance on the global stage.
