Kaieteur Sports – The premier event of the Bartica Easter Regatta calendar revs off today at the Golden Beach Circuit, featuring top contenders in the powerboat racing scene, where, from 10:00 AM onwards, spectators can expect thrilling competitions among renowned racers.
Among the participants are Sanjay Ramkissoon, the reigning 115-200hp Champion Driver, along with the Team Shivraj clan.
Randy Belle will be piloting Conan with the Belle crew, while Dave Scott will be aboard Jaguar, while joining the fray is Dave’s son, Devesh, who will be steering Falcon.
Additionally, the Pomeroon River crew, led by Neil (Czyzie Boy) and Clint Gonsalves, will also be present.
The Belle clan, widely regarded as the backbone of auto powerboat racing in Guyana, boasts a rich history of competitiveness and triumph at this prestigious event, which has become a staple at this time of year.
Dave Scott, a veteran with over twenty-five years of experience, has engaged in intense competitions with the Belles and Pomeroon-based Neil Gonsalves in the Unlimited 200hp events.
Young Devesh Scott has also made his mark, competing with fair success at the Hot and Cold Lake in Essequibo and winning the Champion Driver accolade at the Blue Lake in Linden.
In the past five years, the Ramkissoon family, operating under the banner of Team Sanjay, has emerged as a formidable force.
They have steadily matured and asserted their presence, and this year promises intriguing outcomes as all teams have diligently worked to enhance their engines and ensure peak performance for today’s anticipated battles.
The day’s events will include three rounds for the 200hp, 75-90hp, 40hp, and 15hp boats before shifting focus to the Bush Boats and Jet Skis. Exciting cash prizes and trophies await the top three finishers in each event, adding to the competitive spirit.
Additionally, scheduled for today are the River Swim from Goshen to Golden Beach and the Road Race, promising a diverse range of activities for participants and spectators alike.
