Those of us who have been around for a few decades can recognise the trick and the sleight of hand being played on the Guyanese people by President Irfaan Ali supported by a powerful PR establishment.
The trick is being played on the PPP supporters and gullible Guyanese. The State-controlled media well put together powerful phrases, presenting to both sides of our political divide, Irfaan Ali, a man who is caring and concerned. For us, he and his inner circle even invented this One Guyana clever ruse.
But Dear Editor, Dr. Ali swore to uphold the Constitution of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. He has not been doing so. Dr. Ally presides over the breaking up of our traditional institutions and time-honoured practices. Dr. Ali, has failed or refuses to instruct, as he has the power to tell his Minister of Labour to summon the Guyana Teachers Union to at least discuss their concerns. Dr. President Ali instead of treating Teachers, as stupid children telling them to be patient. Dr. Ali must know of the old wisdom that whilst the grass is growing the horse is starving.
Dr. Ali runs around the country and the world giving us the impression that he likes to do things directly, but tells the Teachers to be patient. Dr. Ali in spite of the incorrect data by his state machinery ignores the fact that daily our medical personnel, teachers and qualified citizens are leaving Guyana for greener pastures, notwithstanding us being the fastest growing economy of the world. President Ali must know that collective bargaining is the instrument and tool to ensure its true democracy. President Ali should look at the many promises made by the PPP such as to negotiate that horrible oil contract signed by Mr. Trotman promised on behalf of his Party that the Teachers deserve a 50% increase. To those who seek to put a sheen on Dr. Irfaan Ali who has been failing in many years. If he is not in charge of the Ship-of-State, let him step down, step aside or jump overboard. In the meantime, PPP followers and others must hold him accountable
Sincerely,
Eric Moseley, MS
