Dear Editor,
Back in February, I visited GECOM’s New Amsterdam Office. While getting my ID business done, I found the loud behaviour of the PPP scrutineer in the office to be shocking and disturbing.
I spent about 25 minutes in the office. During that time, that lady was loudly speaking on her phone and shouting all the time. From what I gathered, she has another job she had to attend to. From the very loud talk, she was heard telling someone about dragline issues. Then the phone rang again, she was talking about NDC matters. She answered loudly about family issues. Then again and again. When she was finished, she then she moved on to talk a lot of derogatory things about fellow PPP/C comrades in the presence of all. She along with another woman seated next to her went on and on. I left thinking that I should let the party officials know but then I got busy with other things, said maybe it was not a good day for her.
I visited again to collect my ID. Lo and behold, she was on top of her voice once again. I don’t know what our party views are on this, or if they are aware of her behaviour, but as a supporter, I do not think this is the best representation. The office was quiet with everyone busy, except her loud talking was heard all the way downstairs. I heard it while leaving. I recalled because of her loudness, back in February, the staff twice had to ask me to repeat since she was that loud carrying on with the other lady. Our party has many qualified and professional people, and I am asking that they consider better representation. This doesn’t make our party look good, especially badmouthing other comrades loudly. We are a party of professional people. We have ethics. Cheddi Jagan was quite a professional and so must be the people who represent the party.
Yours sincerely,
Disappointed Party Supporter.
