– GMMAF president Singh pleased with fighters’ success in T&T
Kaieteur Sports – Four Guyana athletes excelled in the Rufff & Tuff and TNTMMAF regional invitational in Trinidad and Tobago. The Guyana Mixed Martial Arts Federation (GYMMAF) and Fight Central collaborated on the event.
Anevia Frank, Carl Ramsey, Sheeze Bobb, and Ijaze Cave were the athletes that represented Guyana. Anevia Frank made her debut in the octagon and won a gold medal.
Carl Ramsey, a current Pan American Games silver medalist, and Sheeze Bobb, a current Pan American Games silver medalist, both earned gold medals. Ijaze Cave, a world-class athlete, also won a gold medal in the tournament.
Their outstanding accomplishments were attributable to Coach Troy Bobb’s direction and teaching. Gavin Singh, president of GYMMAF, expressed his pleasure in the athletes and coach, praising Anevia Frank’s performance as a first-time championship competitor.
He stressed that the organization is committed to provide a platform for local athletes to acquire regional and worldwide recognition, emphasizing the importance of this win for Guyana and the sport of MMA.

Michael Singh, president of Fight Central, expressed his joy at being a part of this initiative and committed to continue supporting GYMMAF and its athletes both locally and internationally. In conjunction with GYMMAF, Fight Central plans to hold a sanctioned invitational and professional event, assuring the growth and development of MMA in Guyana.
Overall, this is a big accomplishment for Guyana’s MMA community, and they are eagerly anticipating the forthcoming Pan American Championships in Colombia in August 2023.
IMMAF Coach Education and Certification Course led by Andrew Moshanov is a commendable initiative that will equip coaches with the necessary knowledge and skills to train athletes effectively.
The participation of 20 coaches from six Caribbean regions, including Trinidad, Saint Lucia, Guyana, Antigua, Suriname, and Grenada, is a clear indication of the growing interest and commitment to MMA in the area.
It’s heartening to see that IMMAF is actively working to establish a strong support and education system for athletes and coaches across national federations, which is crucial for the sport’s development.
The involvement of coaches from Guyana, such as Corwin D’Anjou, who is a world-ranking MMA fighter, adds significant value to the coaching program. Corwin D’Anjou’s experience and expertise will undoubtedly benefit young athletes and contribute to the expansion of MMA in the region.
