Dem Boys Seh…
Kaieteur News – In dis era of social media and instant judgment, it look like we done reach de stage weh people condemnin’ odders based pon mere allegations. Dem old days of “innocent till proven guilty” done pass we by, nah.
Now we livin’ in ah world weh one accusation alone could end somebody’s reputation fuh good. Ahh, we livin’ in strange times, meh frens.
Ahh, it’s like we own lil’ courtroom widout de judge an’ jury, but instead we got de Facebook warriors and de cyber detectives, ready fuh mek dem verdicts. It’s like a virtual witch hunt, wid everybody banding togedda an’ de facts an’ evidence getting’ kick to de side.
Why we gotta travel de long road of legal proceedings and due process when we could just tek we virtual forks and knives and form ah digital mob in no time? Who need qualified people an’ impartial juries when we got de people wid laptops and strong opinions? We nah gat time fuh proper investigations or deep analyses of de evidence, yuh know. One simple allegation, and we satisfy wid we hunger fuh drama an’ righteousness.
But yuh know wah sweet about all dis? De entertainment value! We love seein’ people’s reputation crumble and dem careers tun tuh ash. We livin’ fuh dem scandalous headlines, enjoin’ we selves when dem people we used tuh admire come tumbling dung. It’s like a real-life soap opera, meh friends wid real people sufferin’ real consequences.
Sure, dey got people wah cautioning we, telling we tuh be fair an’ reasonable. Dey talkin’ ’bout due process an’ innocent till proven guilty. But who got time fuh dat, eh? We want instant satisfaction, swift justice, even if dat mean we sacrificin’ fairness an’ possibly destroyin’ innocent lives in de process.
So let we continue pon dis journey of righteous condemnation. Let we relish in we power wid we keyboards an’ hashtags. Wah could possibly go wrong when we puttin’ all we faith in allegations an’ tossin’ away fairness? Who need facts when we got feelings, meh frens? In dis bold new world ob trial by public opinion, justice is just ah likkle text and tweet away.
Talk half. Leff half!
