Kaieteur News – Police are investigating the death of 62-year-old Dharamdeo Singh, a resident of Dharamshala, Fort Canje, New Amsterdam, Berbice which occurred on Sunday at approximately 21:00h.
Singh was reportedly beaten to death by another resident of the institution, who has since been arrested.
The suspect has been identified as 70-year-old Mohamed Khan.
According to a resident of the Dharamshala ,the suspect, who also stays there, approached the victim in the male ward and an argument ensued. The argument escalated and the suspect reportedly dealt Singh several lashes with a piece of wood he had in his possession. Singh received several injuries about his body and was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Investigations are ongoing.
