Dear Editor
Kaieteur News – Some media outlets are agog with an opposition MP’s personal stance on the gas-to-energy project with the headline ‘Opposition MP breaks ranks with party to support Govt’s gas-to-energy project ‘ (GT, INEWS May 7). The perceived take and suggestion by the headline is the MP has revolted on his party’s position and there might be a parting of ways, similar to other breaking of ranks which resulted in the parting of ways.
Reasons offered for the worthiness of the project as outlined in his letter (SN May 8) in no way constituted or can be construed as breaking ranks or a revolt. Sensationalising a personal position clouded the true reasons for the position taken. The MP must be commended for putting his position out in the public domain.
Sincerely
Shamshun Mohamed
