Kaieteur News – Christmas deh around de corner and back pay done pay. Is now de mad rush gan tek place with all dem wah gat money trying fuh buy out dem store. Yo, things tight in Guyana, tek a walk down to dem shopping areas and yuh want know if de whole country win de lottery. Dat is what does happen after de 15th December.
Dem money transfer agencies gan also get rush because dem Guyanese overseas also get dem Christmas bonus and dem know dem gat to send something extra fuh dem family back home. Never mind some of dem back home doing better than dem overseas, dem gan complain how things hard in Guyana and dem family gan send money fuh dem Christmas.
So if nuff spending gan tek place. Dat is how Guyanese does enjoy dem selves.
Overseas people does like party but in Guyana, dem party does cost money and nuff people nah go to party because dem nah want spend money pon clothes and nah gat nothing fuh put in de pot.
So Guyanese muss have certain things fuh de holiday – food, fairy lights and family. Is dat is what local Christmas is about. Fuh food, yuh must gat a nice meal fuh Christmas Day and plenty to drink.
Dem fairly light selling cheap, cheap and so nuff people decorating dem house. Christmas tree gat to go up too in some house.
And what will Christmas be like without family who does come and admire yuh fairly lights and eat out yuh food and drink out yuh drinks?
