Mr. Pitamber is not keeping the peace

Dear Editor,

I request a small space in your newspaper to address a matter that has become of great concern to the wellbeing of myself and family.
I am Ramnarine Gobin, the father of two small children and I live with my stay at home wife, Bibi Nazira Gobin at 290 Section ‘D’ Non Pareil East Coast Demerara. For some three years now my neighbour Bheem Pitamber known as Neal, who resides at Lot 289, has been dumping sand on my fence illegally and causing it to damage. The gentleman uses this sand as a drive way but dug a small drain next to my fence. Not only is this water washing away the base of the fence but it is also rotting the wooden parts of the structure. I’ve been to the Buxton/Foulis NDC and complained many times and they have in fact acknowledged that what is being done is wrong after a visit to the location. They’re attempts to reach Mr. Pitamber have been futile since the gentleman would occupy the property when he visits during the day, but sleeps elsewhere.
The NDC had also instructed me to take this matter to the police which I did. I also visited the police station after numerous threats were made to harm my family and myself. The matter was taken to court for threatening language and Mr. Pitamber was placed on a five year bond to keep the peace. I also filed a court matter about the fence but my understanding is the case file was not with the court. Mr. Pitamber is not keeping the peace. He has continued to dump sand to drive his vehicle and continues to damage my fence. One occasion, he would walk up to my fence and hit it as if to damage it further. And now, the man is driving his vehicle on the reserve which I maintain in front of my house. These are all deliberate acts and no matter the complaints made, no one seem able to seriously deal with this gentleman. At this point, the newspaper is the only avenue I have left. I am writing this letter so that those responsible for addressing the matter will take the necessary action. I plan to write another letter and name all the officials that have pushed me around or refused to seriously address this troublesome neighbour.
