The Great Replacement Theory

Kaieteur News – This has nothing to do with oil companies with a global footprint replenishing their reserves, and earning the kudos of analysts and forecasters. Rather, the Great Replacement Theory currently the rage in the polarized United States of America has to do with who looks to displace whom, and which group appears well set to fulfill the crazed visions of their detractors and now increasingly sworn hate-filled enemies.

The Great Replacement Theory in the turbulent and violent America of today is based almost purely on race. It is founded on fearful race visions, electrified by incendiary race hates, and incited by a wide cross section of profound race considerations. There is this set of circumstances where White America feels more and more under siege, that it is losing ground, that it is losing the identity and culture and the supremacy that have always been its right and might since the founding of the country hundreds of years ago.

The ‘replacers’ are those in the easy and convenient arrival, presence, and creeping influence of immigrants, Asians, Hispanics, Jews, and Blacks. Minorities all, they are nevertheless feared and hated by significant sections of the majority. Those already significant sections of White America are growing; they are no longer of the far right, militia type, conspiracy believing kind of citizen. Many closer to the center have succumbed to the pull and lure of the radicalised supremacists. Their succumbing may not have yet translated to armed action, but the spirit is there, and the energy to make things happen unflagging.

Moreover, the chambers of the venerable US Congress have members who are farther to the right than Genghis Khan and Atilla the Hun combined. If this is part of the reality, though thankfully still a minority at the present time, of the supreme American lawmaking body, then the future takes on the grimmest of forebodings, with more and more layers of American society feeling the pressure to take a stand. The prospects for America’s many diverse minorities don’t look so safe, or so healthy; not with an environment that is so saturated with tense enmity and well-grounded vulnerability.

Waves of immigrants from across the globe has added to the state of dreadful alarm, which has given traction to the Great Replacement Theory gaining strength in America. What started out as a mob, looks too suspiciously like the middle, with more and more adherents taking their cues and joining in the pews daily. To make matters worse, dismal birthrates in the White segment of America’s demographic signal that, as the numbers of immigrants multiply and their own higher birthrates register, more and more ground is being lost by the majority. The White America that is concerned is not comforted by the studies and experts that point to minority status being decades into this century.

The argument could be made that it is why some take matters into their own hands, as in Buffalo and elsewhere, to lay out what the territory for minorities (especially the Black one) looks like. There is what could be called this machinegun mentality, as though the objective is to reduce through continuing intimidation, actual gunfire, and the heinous bloodbaths that have become so ordinary today. The police used to engage in the blood sport, and got away with the murdering of minorities on the street almost at will, and up until recently. Judges and juries always seemed (again, up until recently) to find some justification about danger and fear to condone official killings. In some sense, this furnished the fodder to keenly watching America, White America, that the system was titled in its favour. So, when the dead piled up in Buffalo, New York, the condoners found ways to aid and abet spiritually the latest killer on the rampage using false flag and conspiracy and replacement theory to project their groundless positions.

We present this feared ‘Great Replacement Theory’ of America because its close cousin is right here in Guyana. It is called elections, and of that, there should be no need for any interpretation. Our history and anxiety are over who replaces whom, who gains ground, and who loses and falls farther back. So far, we have managed ourselves better.
